Luckenbooth Earrings (Large)

Luckenbooth Earrings (Large)

The Luckenbooth dates back to Scotland of at least the 7th century as is evidenced by a tiny

Luckenbooth Brooch that survived.  Originally sold from "Locking Booths" along Edinburgh's Royal Mile, they were traditionally given as a gift upon betrothal or for protection against the evil eye.  The Luckenbooth has a lovely meaning with the Heart representing Love, the Crown representing Loyalty and the M for Mary, Queen of Scots. Although if your name begins with M, it looks as if it is made for you!

Design elements of these Luckenbooth Earrings are:

  • Sterling silver over lead-free pewter
  • Highly polished with an antique to show of the detail
  • Size: Luckenbooth itself approx: 1"
  • Size: Entire Earring is approx 1 3/4”
  • French wires

The Luckenbooth is also available in smaller earrings, a small bracelet or a large bracelet.
