The Luckenbooth dates back to Scotland of at least the 7th century as is evidenced by a tiny
Luckenbooth Brooch that survived. Originally sold from "Locking Booths" along Edinburgh's Royal Mile, they were traditionally given as a gift upon betrothal or for protection against the evil eye. The Luckenbooth has a lovely meaning with the Heart representing Love, the Crown representing Loyalty and the M for Mary, Queen of Scots. Although if your name begins with M, it looks as if it is made for you!
