An Irish Post Box is what you guys call a mail box. In the Republic of Ireland they are painted Green. In Northern Ireland (and in other British territories like Scotland and Wales), they are painted Red.

Sometimes in Ireland, the only way you know you have crossed the border from the Republic into Northern Ireland, is when the post boxes change color.

On the bottom of the magnet the P 7 T for the Department of Post & Telegraphs (What looks like a number seven is the Irish ampersand).

For many of your ancestors, getting "a letter from home" was the only way to keep in touch with family in Ireland, since they began the arduous journey to the “Land of Opportunity”.

Design features of this metal magnet are:

  • Approx. 4" tall x 1 1/2" wide
