Now this is a belt buckle made for a Proud Scot! I love how the center Thistle is bursting out of the buckle, like it is proud to stand out and be seen. The main thistle is surrounded by smaller thistles and these in turn are framed with Celtic Knots.
As I am sure you know, the thistle is a symbol for Scotland and has been used as such for about 800 years!

Dating to to about 600 AD, we photographed this Ogham stone in Kilmalkedar Church, on the Dingle peninsular, in Co. Kerry. on our last trip to Ireland. The ogham carving reads "ẠṆM MẠỊLE-INBIR/ MACI BROCANN" - "Name of Máel-Inbher son of Broccán"
