The outer rim of these coasters looks like an intricate Celtic Knot carved in stone. While these coasters are called a stone shield, the inner portion (to me at least) looks like stained glass, in a bold Celtic Design.

Dating to to about 600 AD, we photographed this Ogham stone in Kilmalkedar Church, on the Dingle peninsular, in Co. Kerry. on our last trip to Ireland. The ogham carving reads "ẠṆM MẠỊLE-INBIR/ MACI BROCANN" - "Name of Máel-Inbher son of Broccán"
