The Claddagh is an Irish symbol known the world over. The meaning behind the Claddagh – Love, Friendship and Loyalty, has ensured its surviving and thriving, all these hundreds of years later.
Understandably, in all that time, there have been some variations in the styling, and this is yet another beautiful example of this.
Dating to to about 600 AD, we photographed this Ogham stone in Kilmalkedar Church, on the Dingle peninsular, in Co. Kerry. on our last trip to Ireland. The ogham carving reads "ẠṆM MẠỊLE-INBIR/ MACI BROCANN" - "Name of Máel-Inbher son of Broccán"
