Do you know why a mythical creature would become a symbol for Scotland, and actually become Scotland's National Animal? In the lore of the unicorn, it symbolised purity and wild untamed strenght, and like the Scots this proud beast would fight to remain unconquered.
In the Coat of Arms the unicorn has a gold chain around its neck, symbolising that only the Scottish Kings were powerful enough to tame a Unicorn.
