Irish fairies are said to live under earthen mounds. When I was growing up, there was a little hill in one of our fields, known as the Fairy Hill. As children we were told not to pick flowers, mushrooms, or disturb anything on the Fairy Hill, or we would upset the Fairies. The fairies were natural beings with supernatural powers, who wanted us to respect nature, and could be vengeful if you harmed them or their property.
