The Celts saw the hare and the moon, as symbols of fertility and the cycles of nature. They were connected with the coming of spring, growth, renewal, and abundance.
Hares were also a symbol of the goddess Eostre (which it is believed to where the word Easter comes from). Nowadays, the hare symbolism has been replaced with the Easter Bunny.
