This beautiful Quaich is hand crafted in Scotland and is adorned with multiple Celtic Knots. There are Celtic Knots on the handles, a central Celtic Knot (or 4 central knots, depending on your viewpoint) and encircled in even more Celtic Knots.
Nowadays the Quaich is a Scottish two handled shallow drinking cup, that is used to toast celebrations. Story has it though, that long ago in Scotland, the Quaich was often used as a peacemaking tool.
When warring clans (families) grew tired of fighting and wanted peace, they would have a wedding between members of the fighting families. The thinking was that you are all related now, so you can't kill each other anymore! The host party would hold the Quaich with both hands (and therefore could not hold a weapon) and would drink from it first (to show it was not poisoned). Then the guest party would drink from it, also holding both handles.
