This design is from photographs we took when visiting the Down Cathedral and the nearby Saint Patrick Centre - which houses a permanent exhibition about Ireland’s Patron Saint.
It is said that the first monastery in Ireland is believed to be founded by St. Patrick himself, in the year 432, and the cathedral is the historic burial place of St Patrick. The High Cross dates from a little later in the 10th or 11th century.
The shirt's design is based upon the engravings on the west side of the Downpatrick High Cross, and is a Celt Wares Original!
The T-Shirt is white ink on a Tagless Hanes, pre-shrunk, 100% cotton, super soft cotton tee.
Dating to to about 600 AD, we photographed this Ogham stone in Kilmalkedar Church, on the Dingle peninsular, in Co. Kerry. on our last trip to Ireland. The ogham carving reads "ẠṆM MẠỊLE-INBIR/ MACI BROCANN" - "Name of Máel-Inbher son of Broccán"
